'With its killer cast, Dead on the Vine ferments like the libation at the center of this clever thriller, altering the viewers perception of events as if they've quaffed a Cabernet'
KEVIN SMITH (Clerks, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Red State)
Joni and Cora are in the midst of preparing for a business saving wine-tasting on their beautiful Kent vineyard when two men, one of whom is unconscious after having a seizure, appear on their doorstep asking for help. All seems well at first but when the second man wakes it kicks off a whirlwind of violence and deceit that the newly formed foursome must negotiate if they are to make it through the night with their business and lives in tact.
The making of Dead on the Vine
Dead on the Vine was made during the summer of 2020, during lockdown with only 20 cast & crew, all living together (while socially distanced) on the East Sussex working vineyard where it was filmed. We had no money and not much time, but with the offer of a free location and a group of filmmakers out of work and happy to provide their skills and equipment, Mark wrote the script in 2 weeks, and we wrapped 2 months later.
It was difficult, complicated but more than worth it. Seeing not only the film community, but also locals offering support through costume, props and crew meals, Dead on the Vine gave us a much-needed positive focus at a time when there didn’t seem much to look forward to. It probably only could have existed because of the circumstances in which it was made. We are incredibly proud of what we achieved with a mix of innovation, talent, generosity, and possibly a touch of insanity.
'A boundary testing thriller that weaponises the horror of humanity... A Tense ticking time bomb.'
