"This is tradition standing on its head... doing cart wheels and pole vaulting over every barrier in sight..." The Irish Times
To help Easdale Island Hall celebrate its 10th birthday we have the very welcome return to Easdale Island of Shooglenifty.
Shooglenifty is one of Scotland's most unique musical exports. This six-man band is credited being the originators of "acid-croft", a fiery and infectious blend of Celtic traditional music and dance grooves that band members decribe as "hypno-folkadelic ambient trad".
Their fiery instrumental lyricism, pulsating with infectious rhythm and drive, creates a sound that is at once epic and inclusive, soulful and stirring; and commands a musical presence that takes the crowd by the hands and dances them on an exhilarating romp through unchartered and fiercely exciting new territory.
A supremely dexterous and witty live band, their energetic live performances have kept them in constant demand around the world. The London Evening News said of a Shooglenifty live performance, "This virtuoso band started building crescendos from the start, each one higher than the last, until the final, shuddering chord left the crown breathless and cheering wildly".
"...a bit like a jam between the Tannahill Weavers, Phish and The Chemical Brothers." Chicago Tribune
